Frequently asked questions

The quick answers to the things people ask most. If yours is not here, get in touch.

Posting a request

What is a request?

A request is you naming an outcome you want done and, if you like, a budget. Instead of you searching for a business, the right people come to you with offers.

Does it cost anything to post?

Posting a request is free. You create an account, post what you need, and offers come in.

Can I post anonymously?

Yes. You can keep your name hidden while people respond, and reveal it later if you choose. Your request is still visible to everyone who can help.

Can I edit or pause my request?

Yes. You can update the details or pause a request from your dashboard if plans change.

Who can see my request?

By default, requests are open to verified Pros. You can also open a request to everyone, which lets any member respond too.

Offers and quotes

How do offers work?

People who can help put their hand up with an offer. An offer can include a price, a message about how they will help, and photos or files. You compare them and pick the one you like.

Does every offer include a price?

Not always. Some jobs suit a fixed quote, others are an expression of interest or a job application where a price does not fit yet. You can ask anyone for a firm quote through messages.

Can I talk to someone before I accept?

Yes. Each offer has a private message thread. Ask questions, request a revised quote, or share a file before you commit.

What happens when I accept an offer?

The request moves to in progress, the person you picked becomes the one delivering it, and everyone else can see it is taken. When the work is done, you mark it complete.

Can I accept more than one offer?

You accept one offer per request. If you have several things to get done, post them as separate requests.

Payments

How does payment work?

For now, payment is arranged directly between you and the person you accept, off the platform. Agree how and when you will pay before the work starts. In-app payments are on the way.

Does AskHole take a cut of the job?

AskHole does not process your payment, so the amount you agree is between you and the other person. Any fees that apply to a service are shown to you before you use it.

Is my payment protected by AskHole?

Because payment happens directly between you for now, treat it like any other private deal. Read Trust & safety for how to pay sensibly, and never send passwords or bank logins.

Accounts and anonymity

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free account lets you post requests, send offers, and message safely. It is quick to set up.

What is the difference between a member and a Pro?

A member is anyone with an account. A Pro is a business we have verified and approved to pitch for work. Pros can respond to any request, members can respond to requests opened to everyone.

How do I become a verified Pro?

Join as a Pro and complete the business registration. We review it, and once you are approved you can start pitching.

Is my personal information private?

We only show what a request or offer needs, and posting anonymously hides your name from other users. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Reviews and disputes

When can I leave a review?

Reviews unlock once a job is marked complete. Both sides leave one review each, so ratings reflect real, finished work.

Can I change or remove a review?

Reviews are meant to be an honest record. If a review breaks our guidelines, report it and we will take a look.

What if a job goes wrong?

Message the other person first, since most issues sort out with a quick conversation. If that does not work, read Trust & safety and contact us. Remember that AskHole connects people but is not a party to your agreement and does not mediate the outcome of a job.

How do I report someone?

Email support@askhole.com.au with a link to the request and what happened. We act on reports and can suspend or remove accounts that put people at risk.
